Programme for our concert

Minerva Baroque imagines a soirée in Handel’s music room at which Handel and his friends enjoy performing works from throughout his life as well as music by his colleagues and those who inspired him.

The programme includes much-loved Handel arias including highlights from Messiah; theatrical pieces that Arne wrote for Vauxhall Gardens; music by Purcell and his contemporaries to evoke the musical life of London a generation earlier; and pieces by some of the composers who inspired Handel during his stay in Italy as a young man.
